Two Skills, One Vision

Most people are either furniture makers or interior designers. We're both. And that changes everything.

As furniture makers, we understand construction, joinery, wood movement, and how to build pieces that last generations. As interior designers, we understand spatial relationships, color theory, how light moves through a room, and what makes a space feel like home.

Put those together, and you get something most people can't offer: custom furniture designed with your entire space in mind, and design services from someone who can actually build the pieces your room needs.

Why This Combination Matters

When a designer specifies furniture, they're usually shopping from catalogs or hoping a custom maker will understand their vision. When a furniture maker builds a piece, they're often working from measurements and photos, never seeing how it actually lives in your space.

We eliminate that gap. We stand in your living room and see not just where a credenza will go, but how its proportions will balance your windows, how the wood tone will play off your floors, how it will anchor the room without overwhelming it. Then we go to the shop and build that exact piece, refined through both lenses—maker and designer.

The Craft

Every piece we create uses traditional joinery techniques that have proven themselves over centuries. Mortise and tenon. Dovetails. Through-tenons with contrasting plugs. These aren't just aesthetic choices—they're structural decisions that ensure your furniture will outlive you.

We work primarily with domestic hardwoods: cherry, walnut, white oak, maple, mahogany. Each species has its own character, and we help clients select woods that work with their existing finishes and design goals. We don't hide beautiful wood under paint or veneer. The grain is part of the design.

The Design Approach

Our design philosophy is rooted in the Arts & Crafts movement—honest materials, visible construction, furniture that serves real needs. But we're not historical purists. We blend craftsman principles with modern sensibilities: clean lines, lighter palettes when appropriate, and furniture sized for how people actually live today.

Good design solves problems invisibly. A credenza that's exactly the right height for your TV. A nightstand with the perfect amount of storage. Built-ins that turn a dysfunctional corner into your favorite spot in the house. These solutions don't announce themselves—they just work.

Built to Last

You've heard the phrase "good, fast, cheap—pick two." Well around here, you just get to pick one, and spoiler alert: it's good. We only make beautiful and nearly flawless pieces from the finest materials. Life's too short to bother with anything else.

This approach takes time. It costs more than IKEA. And it's worth every bit of both. Because furniture built to last isn't just environmentally responsible—it's a fundamentally different relationship with the things in your home. These pieces become part of your family's story.

How We Work

Every project starts with a conversation. We want to understand how you live, what frustrates you about your current space, what you love. We come to your home because seeing your space in person—the light, the architecture, the flow—is essential to good design.

From there, we might design a single custom piece, create a complete room plan with multiple furniture pieces, or anything in between. The scope depends on what you need. But whether we're building one mirror or furnishing an entire bedroom, the process is the same: thoughtful design, expert craftsmanship, and furniture made specifically for your space.

Located & Working

We're based in the Atlanta area and work primarily with local clients within a few hours' radius. Being local matters for design services (we need to see your space) and for delivering and installing larger pieces properly.

Our workshop is equipped for precision work, from rough lumber to final finishing. We handle every step in-house, which means we control quality at every stage and can make real-time design adjustments when needed.

The Name

Dovetail joints are the pinnacle of traditional woodworking—strong, beautiful, and honest. They don't hide. They celebrate the craft. That's the standard we hold ourselves to in everything we make and design.
